Am I getting ripped off by my appliance repair man?

I payed to have a repair man come out for my fridge; one place said 109 bucks to come and check it out, the other 65. I went for the the 65. Now the fan needs to be replaced and has to be special ordered. The cost of a second visit is 40 bucks plus the cost of parts for the fan…all and all, to have this plastic fan replaced is to the tune of 170 (includ. initial visit of 65) given that the fan is 60 or so for the parts–huh? ? ?

Hotpoint Mistral frost-free fridge freezer with errors?

I recently bought a secondhand mistral freezer, and its bbeen playing up. I would go in the kitchen and the appliance would be running but the temp would be +38 or +48 and as soon as i opened and closed the door on the fridge compartment it would reset to -22.
This has been going on for months and now it just reads E2 regardless of what i do.
I put thermostats in the freezer and fridges and they read -22, and +7
Which is fine.
I did study refrigeration but i have no information on this, and i was told that only hotpoint can fix it and it would be £100 plus parts- which is more than i can afford or its worth!.

Any one have any ideas of sourses where i could order the parts i need.?

Failing that im thinking to convert it to a old style frost free- and junk the LCD display etc. Although it does appear to still be working
